About CAF America

How We Work
International giving can be complex. With CAF America, it doesn’t have to be.

The Basics
CAF America is a global grantmaking organization assisting corporations, foundations, and individuals. We streamline the grantmaking process to eliminate risk and administrative burden. Through our work, we help donors support great causes by assisting them in making strategic, effective, and tax-advantaged grants internationally and domestically.

American donors cannot give directly to foreign charitable organizations and obtain a tax deduction. As a US public charity, CAF America is able to accept funds from American donors who can then recommend that CAF America use those funds to support foreign charitable organizations.

The Process
We understand that effective philanthropy begins with a clear vision and a focused plan for making that vision a reality. We also realize that not all donors are alike. Therefore, in order to best serve your specific philanthropic goals, we encourage you to contact us directly to discuss a tailored solution that works for you.

The following is a generalized example of how our process works.

Donors contact CAF America with a charitable organization in mind, to discuss their philanthropic vision, or to explore the solutions available to carry out a specific type of giving program.

CAF America conducts due diligence reviews for each recommended organization, or, CAF America advises strategies and validated organizations that match a donor’s philanthropic goals.

Donors make a gift to CAF America or establish a fund for ongoing grant management.

CAF America makes grants to eligible charitable organizations and monitors their operations.

Grant recipients are required to submit annual reports detailing how funds were used.
